Due to ongoing departmental developments, the National Risk and Resilience Department (NRRD) is looking to recruit into the position of Training & Development Officer for Incident Command training on a permanent basis.  The successful incumbent would primarily operate from the NRRD Headquarters at Newbridge, Edinburgh, but since the role has a national remit, nationwide travel should be expected.

The purpose of the Department is to provide a comprehensive, effective and robust organisation-wide structure for risk management, integrated emergency planning, business continuity management, infrastructure security, community resilience, strategic operations and specialised operational response. The NRRD also directly manages and trains the three full-time Specialist Operations Response Teams.

Reporting to the Training & Development Manager (Incident Command), you will part of a dedicated team of trainers who deliver and develop of all aspects of Incident Command Training to meet performance targets and Government requirements to support national emergency preparedness.

The post holder will be experienced in delivering and developing specialist training curriculum and, or incident command training within the emergency services or similar background. 

In addition, they should hold or be willing to work towards, an appropriate level of teaching qualification (Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training / equivalent or above). Be able to demonstrate a proven track record of developing and delivering an educational curriculum within a healthcare or similar setting. 

Knowledge and understanding of our specialist response capability and experience in delivering, planning and assuring ambulance education within Special Operations Response Teams or CBRN responder teams would be advantageous.

You will represent the Scottish Ambulance Service on specialist groups, together with the emergency services and Scottish Government, engaged with the development of training opportunities with other key stakeholders.

Major incidents can occur at any time and you will be required to provide a response in the role of Tactical Advisor, or similar leadership role.  The successful applicant will be expected to participate in a formal on call rota as part of the NRRD leadership team.

You will also be required to deal with sensitive information for which security vetting (SC) will be required in addition to other standard background checks.
