We are inviting passionate and committed individuals to join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Staff Bank as currently NMC Registered Mental Health Nurses
Applications are welcome from RMNs either currently working or with recent experience in the NHS, Private or Third Sector care providers.
On successful completion of our recruitment process and mandatory induction training standards you will have access to a wide choice of flexible bank shifts across our Mental Health, Addiction and Prison Health Care services within specialist inpatient wards located across Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Greenock and Dunbartonshire.
Our Nursing and Midwifery Staff Bank provides a comprehensive temporary staffing service, covering a wide range of shifts each week for RMNs. As a Bank Nurse you will have the flexibility to determine your own shift pattern and not only that Bank shifts provide an important opportunity if you want to broaden your clinical experience; working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver patient care across a wide range of inpatient /outpatient settings that will enable you to continue to professionally and clinically develop yourself.

- Most importantly our Bank RMNs/RNLDs are a key part of our multidisciplinary teams who will have key role improving our patients’ experience during their stay in hospital.
As a Bank RMN your role involves the assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care programmes using a strength based recovery focused approach that proactively involves the person. As a statutory registered RMN you will directly contributes to safe, efficient service delivery and will be required to work across the mental health inpatient service (i.e. Hospital site) providing nursing care that meets the needs of the service.
When on your assigned bank shifts you will report to and work closely with the Senior Charge Nurse and at the same time you should also be able to work on your own merit supported by the wider nursing team. In addition you will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to enable effective communication to the multidisciplinary team and other agencies involved in care delivery.
To be successful as a Bank RMN, you’ll need to meet the essential criteria:
- You must hold current first level registration with the NMC as a Registered Mental Health Nurse and be educated to degree level or equivalent
- Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices
- Experience of prioritising and working in a dynamic and fast paced clinical working environment
- Good communication skills, (written and verbal) and dealing with sensitive issues relating to clinical practice
- Able to demonstrate that you can work within boundaries, aware of your own limits and respectful of confidentiality
- Awareness of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its application within a clinical patient setting.
- Excellent team working skills, a high level of self-motivation and a flexible approach - our units operate 24 hours 7 days a week, and our nursing staff work shift patterns including weekends, bank holidays and nights.

Our Inpatient services provide mental health nursing care for:
- People requiring acute mental health care (i.e. adult & older adults)
- People requiring specialist mental health care (e.g. specialist dementia care/ intensive mental health care/ rehabilitation etc.)
- People requiring continued period of assessment, care and treatment for complex mental health care needs
- Our Registered Mental Health Nursing teams are integral members of a multidisciplinary team and we are seeking candidates who will work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviour to fulfil the key functions of the inpatient ward /department.
