Responsible for the management of the nursing team within the Regional Forensic Mental Health Service managed by NHS Lothian. Supporting the Chief Nurse and General Manager REAS to build and sustain Forensic Mental Health nursing services fit for the 21st century through service redesign and by promoting safe, effective and person-centred, evidence-based practice.
Provide leadership to promote high professional standards and lead improvement and redesign projects across these services and in partnership with other agencies. Ensure that patients’ needs are met and measured by clinical outcomes that offer both professional and care assurance
Support the development of the nursing workforce including workforce planning, professional development and advancing practice.
Fulfil the role of expert practitioner providing professional leadership, support and advice to Forensic Mental Health Nurses working within NHS Lothian and within associated Forensic Services within the South East Region and advise and contribute strategically to the Forensic Mental Health Managed Care Network (FMHMCN).
The Clinical Nurse Manager also provides a 24 hour on call service in conjunction with charge nurse group to support, guide and advise junior staff out of hours and at weekends.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
