An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Argyll and Bute Addiction Team to work as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner supporting in-patient / outpatient detoxification and specialist input to the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Oban teams. You will act as the lead expert in first line drug and alcohol assessments and treatments including non-medical assessment and prescribing for individuals within these areas. They will hold planned clinics on an out-patient basis who are presenting with acute drug and alcohol problems. They will also have a remit to provide advice, support and treatment to primary care providers of opioid replacement therapy. They will work directly with the Consultant Psychiatrist for Addictions in providing non medical prescribing where there are no shared care arrangements. There will also be a role to provide advice and support regarding treatment in the absence of the speciality Doctors in service. Working in an innovative service, with a focus on quality improvement, the role is central to supporting recovery pathways, aligning best practice and supporting policy development.
You will be a member of an integrated health and social care team and as such have links to the wider multi disciplinary team.
You should possess sound clinical knowledge and be able to demonstrate a wide range of clinical skills - including the ability to offer interventions and deliver safe, effective care to a diverse client population. You will be required to carry out assessments, develop, implement and evaluate recovery plans. You will manage your own caseload and provide support to the local GP practices in community based alcohol detox.
The post requires you to work as part of the wider multi disciplinary team. You should possess good interpersonal skills and have a commitment to partnership working.
Significant post registration experience is required as well as relevant experience in the Drug and Alcohol field.
A qualification of Advanced Nurse Practitioner or working towards this is essential. Please note that if the successful candidate doesn't currently hold an APN qualification, they will begin the role as a Band 6 and remain on a Band 6 until fully qualified.
