Psychological Services employ approximately 100 staff including the Professional Lead: Psychological Services, two Heads of Psychological Specialty (1) Adult and (2) Child and Adult Learning Disabilities. The Service has developed a professional skill-mix including Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology, Clinical Nurse Specialists in CBT, Counsellors, Graduate Assistant Psychologists, Masters and Doctoral Trainees. The Service places a strong emphasis on governance and CPD and has excellent opportunities for training and access to special interest and professional groups. NHS Ayrshire and Arran CAMHS have team bases at Arrol Park Resource Centre in Ayr (South CAMHS), Ayrshire Central Hospital in Irvine (North CAMHS), and North West Kilmarnock Area Centre in Kilmarnock (East CAMHS). The base for this post is to be confirmed; however, some working across other two bases is anticipated, in order to meet the requirements of Children and Families in Ayrshire and Arran.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join the NHS Ayrshire & Arran CAMHS team. You will be part of the multi-disciplinary team, providing specialist assessment and treatment for C&YP, alongside assessments for neurodevelopmental conditions.
In order to support clinicians in the delivery of their role, Psychological Services places a strong emphasis on governance and CPD and has excellent opportunities for training and access to special interest/professional groups. Clinicians within CAMHS have completed training in various diagnostic assessments, including ADOS-2 and 3Di, specialist therapeutic training, such as IPT and Systemic Family Therapy, and further qualifications such as the MSc in Child Neuropsychology. A plan will be agreed with the successful candidate to identify training that would further equip them to meet the needs of the post and for future service and career development.
Supervision for this post will be from an experienced Clinical Psychologist, and the Service gives regular opportunities for supervision of Trainee Clinical Psychologists during core CAMHS placements. You will be encouraged and supported to develop and provide specialist 3rd year placements to Trainee Clinical Psychologists. The Service regularly provides training places for Trainee Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology; opportunities to provide supervision for these trainee clinicians will also be available.
The post is permanent, full time (37.5 hours/week), although variation in these hours may be considered.
We would welcome interest in this post from recently qualified Clinical Psychologists, as well as final year Trainees on a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme.
The applicant must be HCPC registered as a Practitioner Clinical Psychologist. Trainee Clinical Psychologists would not be expected to be HCPC registered at the point of applying for the post, but would need to have attained registration before they would be eligible to commence the post.
