Job Advert

We require a pharmacist, with excellent clinical knowledge to join the team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. This is a full time clinical post for a fixed period of 1 year, with the opportunity to gain experience in an acute admissions unit as well as in a variety of downstream medical specialities. You will be an integral part of the MDT and have the opportunity to develop the provision of pharmaceutical care to acutely unwell medical patients at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary using the triage and referral model.  You will be expected to play an active role in training which will include: band 6 vocational pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists and providing experiential learning to undergraduates on the medical setting. You will become a member of a dynamic forward thinking team who encourage new and innovative working practices.  The pharmacy clinical staff are well regarded by the multidisciplinary team and are considered integral in the provision of quality pharmaceutical care.  Working within the GRI team provides an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills as a full time clinical pharmacist in a range of clinical specialities.  In addition clinical pharmacists are directly involved in providing care in outpatient clinics and are continually looking to develop services.  In addition we are seeking to develop the role of the technical team in supporting discharge and medicines reconciliation.

You should have relevant hospital experience and have completed or be near to completion of SVTS stage 2 or equivalent.  If postgraduate training has been commenced, we will continue to support pharmacists working towards a further postgraduate qualification including independent prescribing, MSC or diploma.  The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the weekend rota and potentially on call.

This post would provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to expand their clinical knowledge and skills and also to contribute to developing new ways of working to achieve better care for patients.  This would be ideal opportunity for a band 6 looking to progress or a band 7 who wishes to develop as an independent clinical practitioner.
