Job Advert
New Year, new career path? It’s up to you! At NHS Fife, there is plenty of scope for progression. Getting started as a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker could be the start of the new career you need. What more could you want for Christmas than the prospect of a great start to the New Year, with a permanent job in a caring environment?
Healthcare Support Workers play a vital role in our clinical team; it’s no exaggeration to say that we simply couldn’t run our services without the hundreds of Healthcare Support Workers we currently employ at different levels across the organisation, all working incredibly effectively in patient-facing roles.
As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will work within the nursing team, monitoring patient’s health and maintaining and updating their records. You will also provide hands-on care, helping patient’s wash, shower or dress and you will help them to eat their meals.
Depending on where you work, you’ll be working with a range of people, from patients and families, to nursing colleagues, doctors, and carers. We currently have openings across our acute hospitals, in the community and in nursing homes and we can work with you to find the correct work environment for you, one which best complements your skill mix.
Band 2 level Healthcare Support Workers often come from backgrounds in customer care. That’s because a lot of the skills you’ll need in this role are similar to those required in roles in the service industry such as in call centres or retail. We also need people with great communication skills and good listening skills. If you can throw in the ability to motivate people and build relationships – we’d love to hear from you – our patients need you!
These roles incorporate access to further education, training, development and support and you will be supported to progress your career through a well-defined career progression pathway. NHS Fife provides healthcare to a population of more than 370,000 people and we currently employ around 9,000 staff. That’s why in addition to benefits like pension contributions, increasing holidays in line with length of service, and career progression support, we also endeavour to work with staff and ensure their roles work for them and those closest to them. By choosing to join NHS Fife, you are choosing to make a real difference.
