How would you like to join the Private and Overseas Finance Team, a small specialist team within the wider Finance Department of one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK? The team plays a vital role in ensuring the regulations for the charging of healthcare is implemented in a fair and consistent manner which can at times be challenging.

You’ll work closely with dynamic and enthusiastic professionals who are committed to making a difference.  NHS Lothian is on an exciting journey towards helping people live longer healthier lives and at a challenging time for public services the finance team will be at the heart of reshaping how we provide healthcare across the region and for the country.

 As an integral part of the busy Private and Overseas Finance Team you will be the day to day finance lead for the management of all overseas patients’ communication (face to face interviews, telephone and email exchanges); collecting source documentation, costing and creating invoices for liable healthcare treatment and establishing where patients meet criteria for non-liability for charges.   

You will be a key player in ensuring the standard and quality of finance patient records is in accordance with Data Protection Guidelines, local policies and the current Health Regulations.

All About You

Ideally you would be qualified to SCQF Level 9 such as degree in a business or health related subject or relevant experience.  Excellent IT skills are key to managing the demands of this job so you need to have experience of using a range of IT packages, including excel, word and access. You will need excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as working with others and accurate recording of information will be essential to your success in this role, as well as being organised with good time management skills.
