We offer an excellent opportunity to join our team as our Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals (NMAHP).

Our nursing, midwifery and AHP workforce is the largest in Scotland and delivers excellent care to our population. We are looking for an inspirational, NMC registered, clinical leader with a passion for people, culture and patient care to shape and deliver the highest standards in professional practice across our NMAHP workforce.

We are committed to delivering high quality, innovative health and social care that is person-centred. Our ambition is to be a quality-driven organisation that cares about people-patients, their relatives and carers and our staff and is focused on achieving a healthier life for all.

The Role
Accountable to the Chief Executive and part of the Corporate Management Team, the post holder will deliver a portfolio aligned to the strategic and professional leadership of our NMAHP staff. This includes making a significant contribution to delivering ambitious plans for improvement and transformation through the Board’s clinical transformation programme “Moving Forward Together”, leading key elements of this programme.

The Director of NMAHP Professionals is an Executive Director of the Board and is key to providing advice,  guidance and assurance on all matters relating to NMAHP clinical and professional practice to the Board’s Chief Executive, Directors, Non-Executive Board members and Chief Officers within our 6 Health and Social Care Partnerships.

Key to this role will be to ensure governance and regulatory frameworks allow robust review and improvement of clinical performance in line with Professional standards.

You will also have lead responsibility for patient safety and public protection, providing professional and strategic oversight and support to Care Homes and Care at Home Services within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. A key priority area within the role is leading Infection Control, and the management of related risks.

Achievement of the highest levels of clinical and staff engagement and involvement in the development and delivery of person centred and compassionate care is seen as an absolute priority in this role.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate.
We are seeking an experienced senior clinical leader who will bring a track record of delivering patient focused improvement, through driving strategic influence for innovation across service modernisation, NMAHP workforce planning and development, education and research.

Clinically credible you will role model compassionate, collaborative leadership with a strong commitment to developing others. You will evidence a track record in improving patients, carers and staff experience and outcomes.

This role requires someone with extensive Nursing/Midwifery experience, who operates at a senior or executive management level with strong leadership skills, excellent communication and networking skills.

As a key member of the Corporate Management Team you will be expected to contribute beyond your defined portfolio.

As much of the post holder’s role reflects national policy drivers in Scotland for health and social care, this post requires someone with a high level of political awareness and the personal credibility to quickly gain respect and influence both internal and external stakeholders.

Candidates must hold current registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the NMC and be educated to master’s degree level with evidence of post graduate study (or equivalent) with demonstrable senior/board level management experience within a large complex organisation, preferably within the NHS or other comparable provider of health and social care services.
