Job Advert
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time permanent Optometrist Specialist to join our expanding Optometry Team within the Ophthalmology Department. The focus for this particular post will be within the Corneal and Contact lens services.
As part of the cross-linking team you will work alongside the Corneal Consultant Ophthalmologist. As well as being involved in monitoring Keratoconus progression, pre-operative counselling and post-operative follow up of patients there is an aspiration that in due course the successful applicant will perform Cross-Linking treatment themselves.
You will also be involved in specialist contact lens fitting. Experience of therapeutic contact lens fitting would be desirable, however, not essential. Ongoing comprehensive training will be provided by Optometry colleagues.
There is also the opportunity to develop a specialist complex paediatric Optometry clinic working alongside the Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologists and Orthoptists.
Evidence of good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, yet also within a team and the ability to prioritise workload using effective time management skills are essential.
You must hold General Optical Council registration and have post-registration experience. As you may be required to work anywhere throughout Tayside, the ability to travel is essential.
Informal enquiries and visits are welcomed. Please contact Kathryn Weed - Optometrist Consultant on 01382 632348
NHS Tayside is committed to equality and diversity and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community.
