Job Advert

NHS Lanarkshire invites applications for six Consultant Radiologist posts to join our team of 39 Consultant colleagues.

Posts are available for both Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology.

NHS Lanarkshire has three acute hospital sites, University Hospital Wishaw, Monklands and Hairmyres. The successful applicant(s) will be appointed to an NHS Lanarkshire post but will be based primarily at one of these hospital sites.

The successful applicant(s) will contribute to an evening (until 6pm) and weekend daytime on call for general plain film, USS and CT (frequency being 1:10 to 1:12). Overnight the on-call is outsourced. Currently both the Interventional and Diagnostic Radiologists contribute to the general on-call though this may change.

The Interventional Radiology posts will be to join a dynamic team who provide a Vascular hub based at Hairmyres servicing three health boards (population of 1.2 million). However, both Vascular and Non-Vascular Interventional Radiologists are encouraged to apply and will be supported to develop any special interests.

The diagnostic posts are available at all three sites. We would particularly welcome applications from colleagues with an interest in Breast, Thoracic or MSK radiology. However, we also strongly encourage applicants to apply who have other sub-specialty interests which they wish to pursue and further develop.

All the posts are part of a pan-Lanarkshire service but by being site based, you will be welcomed into the local team and we are looking for colleagues who wish to work in such an environment.

Lanarkshire is part of the West of Scotland Clinical Network and the majority of the MDTs work closely with Regional Cancer MDTs. Involvement in MDTs is strongly encouraged. Each hospital has strong links with Glasgow University and the University of Strathclyde. Under- and post-graduate education is an important part of the posts and many consultants are honorary Senior Lecturers at Glasgow University.

NHS Lanarkshire is situated to the east, south and south-west of Glasgow. As a result, it benefits its proximity to Scotland’s largest City and the Leisure, Sport and Entertainment opportunities this brings. However, it is also includes the beautiful Clyde Valley. The coast, Edinburgh, the Trossach’s National Park or the Scottish Borders are all within easy reach. Glasgow, Prestwick and Edinburgh Airports are close by. Good schools and comparatively affordable housing are available.

NHS Lanarkshire are happy to consider requests for this publication to be in another accessible format i.e. large print, braille, etc.  Please contact us via either of the undernoted methods clearly stating which format is required.
