An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the NHS Lothian Manual Handling Service (MHS) as part of our Higher Education Institutes contract (HEI). You will work as part of a team  that is based at  Napier University  (Sighthill Campus, Edinburgh),delivering core manual handling  (education) training to nursing, midwifery and AHP Napier and Edinburgh University students.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic clinical professional, registered AHP or Nurse with a degree (or professionally equivalent clinical qualification). You should have recent clinical experience and be highly passionate and motivated. We want you to contribute your specialist knowledge towards delivering a high-quality manual handling education programme and provide onsite placement support.  Your role will be to inspire our students to champion and promote safer systems of work to benefit both the people we care for and the staff who deliver that care.

The post will require a working knowledge of safe manual handling practice and the application of the principles around Ergonomics/Human Factors.

It is an exciting time to join contract team, as we look to build upon our working relationships with our HEI colleagues and further develop our education programme in order to provide the most up to date, evidence based and tailored approach to manual handling education.

You will also have the opportunity to play an integral part of our greater MHS, as we are embracing innovation and are committed through several ongoing projects on driving the MHS forward in terms of service development.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e., child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
