This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader to influence teams in Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCP), NHS Boards and national bodies, and to co-design and develop the Improvement Hub’s (ihub) Improving Our Response to Mental Health and Substance Use Support Needs in Scotland programme to ensure it is relevant, robust and fit for purpose.

The role is open to a professional from any sector who has extensive knowledge of mental health/ substance use, and is interested in providing input, leadership and challenge to the current system, in order to facilitate change within local areas.

Within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) the ihub provides support for the redesign and continuous improvement of Health and Social Care services. With an impressive range of improvement support programmes, we aspire to be at the leading edge of both thinking and practice in quality improvement. To find out more about our work please visit https://ihub.scot/

The Improving Our Response to Mental Health and Substance Use Support Needs in Scotland programme is led by the ihub’s Strategic Planning portfolio, part of the Transformational Redesign Unit, which supports Health and Social Care Partnerships with complex, system-wide change in order to improve outcomes for the people of Scotland. The programme aims to redesign care pathways to improve quality of care, access to treatment and health outcomes for people with a dual diagnosis of mental ill health and substance use.

It is important that candidates understand the role and function of HIS and the ihub. Candidates should have knowledge and understanding of many improvement initiatives and ways to support local teams to identify synergies and work effectively.

Key to the success of this role is influencing people to change their practice or behaviour. The Professional Lead will liaise with other National Professional and Clinical Leads, advisors, colleagues in other improvement programmes and professional groups and bodies across the UK and internationally to share learning and best practice. They will need to influence other professionals, including peers and people they do not have line management responsibility over. This includes influencing other members of the ihub as they provide professional assurance that all outputs are relevant, rights based, safe and fit for purpose.
