As a Physiotherapy Assistant you will join our Unscheduled Care Acute team, working in the medical and stroke wards in University Hospital Crosshouse.
You will work with qualified Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioners and, under their supervision and instruction, assist them in delivering clinical care to patients. You will be responsible to the Physiotherapy Team Lead and the Senior Physiotherapists within the team.
Your duties will include assisting physiotherapists in the rehabilitation of patients who have been unwell, as well as managing your own patient caseload, as delegated by physiotherapists. You will also undertake housekeeping duties including cleaning and maintaining walking aids, equipment and treatment areas, stock control, and administration duties such as photocopying and computer based tasks. This is a mentally and physically demanding job, and as such you should be able to demonstrate awareness of health and safety at all times.
You will have a good understanding of the role of the physiotherapy assistant and have relevant experience of caring for and assisting people to maintain or regain their physical function.
Key attributes for this post will be your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work with patients and work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Active participation in our in-service training programme and service improvement is expected and encouraged.
