Opportunity has arisen for an 18 month seconded position within the Practice Placement Education team (East). This is an essential role in the support and development of students in year 2 of the Dip (HE) Paramedic Practice programme.

As a Practice Placement Educator, you will predominantly work within the operational environment. You will have responsibility for the education of Paramedic Students within clinical practice, therefore you will be required to have sound knowledge of; professional and educational standards, conducting an observation of the application of learning in practice, and making assessment decisions. It may also be necessary to develop learning actions plans that will assist individual students’ progress through their Dip (HE) Paramedic Practice programme.

On occasion there may be a requirement to assist with certain teaching or assessment elements on the Dip (HE) Paramedic Practice programme at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Successful candidates will also be responsible for the development, planning and organisation of non-ambulance placements, with both external and internal stakeholders, including NHS Boards and Third Sector organisations.

The role will require the successful candidate to work predominately across geographical regions, Health Board and Divisional boundaries, and may on occasion require travel throughout Scotland. Essential key skills therefore include; communication, flexibility and reliability.  The base location is flexible and can be discussed.

Successful candidates will be registered with the HCPC as a Paramedic and have significant operational experience. They should also have experience of mentoring Paramedic students and clearly demonstrate a commitment to personnel CPD. Evidence of a related degree qualification is essential and the ideal candidate will either hold or be working towards a Practice Education certificate, or teaching qualification such as; a VQ Level 4 Certificate in Education and Teaching or PGCERT in Education
