The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital has an Orthopaedic Department comprising of 33 Consultants with Specialist Interests in Hip, Knee, Upper Limb, Foot and Ankle, Pelvis, Limb Reconstruction, Brachial Plexus and Spine. These are replacement posts to provide expertise in spinal surgery. The Consultants will be expected to provide in-patient services at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and day surgery at the Victoria ACH. Outpatient services are currently temporarily provided at the West Glasgow ACH. There is an aspiration to form a separate spinal rota between orthopaedics and neurosurgery. There may be a requirement to participate in general orthopaedic trauma in the first instance.
The QEUH will be designated as a Major Trauma Centre and it is expected that you will actively participate in the development of a Managed Clinical Network in Orthopaedic Spinal Trauma.
