Job Advert

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic clinical /counselling psychologist for a 1.0 wte band 8a post to provide input for NHS Forth Valley Clinical Health Psychology service.  The Clinical Health Psychology service has seen significant expansion over recent years and provides input to cancer, diabetes, neurology, stroke, neuro and physical rehab, covid, ICU, maternity, neonatal, perinatal and chronic pain teams as well as a service to general medicine.

The main focus of this post will be in pain psychology. Working in Pain services would provide the post holder with a varied role delivering individual therapy to patients with complex needs, joint working across disciplines as well as co-facilitating group based therapy via established Pain Management Programmes alongside physiotherapy colleagues (PMPs are delivered virtually and in person).  The PMP provides a focussed opportunity to expand therapeutic skills within the ACT model.

There will be the opportunity for the post holder to gain experience in representing psychology within the Pain multidisciplinary team at clinical meetings, in the delivery of consultancy and supervision to non-psychology colleagues as well as in the provision of teaching and training.   The post holder will also contribute to the wider Clinical Health Psychology service through referral management meetings, the opportunity to supervise junior staff and to be involved in other initiatives and developments.

NHS Forth Valley Clinical Health Psychology service is one of the specialties within the wider Adult Psychology Services which continues to benefit from redesign.   Benefits from working for NHSFV include opportunities for close liaison with other specialties and support to engage in CPD and regular reflective practice sessions that are structured around a variety of therapeutic modalities. The service offers a friendly and progressive place to work.  Applications are welcomed from those currently working as a clinical/counselling psychologist and from trainee clinical/counselling psychologists who are due to qualify.

For informal enquiries contact: Dr Louisa Fraser, Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Health Psychology, tel. 01324 614387.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.  More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
