An exciting opportunity is now available for Advanced Nurse Practitioners/Paramedics or nurses wishing to attain an ANP qualification to join our Rural Support Team. The RST is based at the Dunbar Hospital, Thurso covering West Caithness and along the North & North West coast covering the Armadale/Tongue practice area and the Durness/Scourie/Kinlochbervie practice area. Working at a highly advanced level, this post offers the opportunity to use your skills in urgent care out of hours as well as rotating through GP practices, ED & the clinical decision unit in-hours. You have the option of being part of either the West Caithness or North & North West Coast service and if feasible can work across all services.
The West Caithness Urgent Care Centre is based within the Dunbar hospital which is currently undergoing a redesign culminating in a new hub consisting of all community services, GP surgeries, care beds and urgent care centre. Health services along the North Coast are also undergoing redesign with a new hub being built in Tongue which will house the Urgent Care Centre.
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic candidates who will embrace the challenges of this dynamic and varied role, working in a remote and rural setting. You must be registered with the NMC and have experience in an urgent or acute setting. Ideally candidates will have NHS Highland approved advanced clinical assessment/history taking module and be a prescriber.
Full support will be given to obtain core Masters level qualifications if required or desired.
Band 6 candidates with relevant experience and drive can also be considered for this post, progressing to Band 7 upon completion of ANP training and portfolio with the expectation that some of the training will be undertaken out with the local unit.
These are permanent full-time posts of 37.5 hours per week, with an on-call requirement, to be worked in accordance with service requirements and in agreement with your line manager.
