Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
The shift pattern for this post will be Saturday/ Sunday with a start time of 06:30-11.30am
The post holder will carry out manual tasks associated with Linen activities within NHS Lanarkshire and associated areas
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Receipt of linen from the West of Scotland Laundry (WoSL)
Transporting & Movement of linen to & from Dept within moving and handling regulatory recommendations
General Housekeeping Duties
Ensure compliance with NHS Lanarkshire and statutory regulations concerning hygiene and safety of patients, staff, visitors, equipment and working practices.
Ensure that all top up levels are adhered to and followed at all times.
Provide emergency and ad hoc cover as required
Complete Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) audits ensuring linen room staff fully comply with required Infection Control guidelines
Complete “Bagging & Tagging” audits of used linen at ward level, enter data on excel spreadsheet and issue to relevant departments by e-mail
Record actual linen issued at ward level, enter data on to excel spreadsheet and issue to relevant departments by e-mail
Complete cleaning of all linen trolleys in line with agreed schedule, maintaining Infection Control disciplines within the linen distribution process
To observe Health and Safety legislation and NHS Lanarkshire policy and procedures at all times, reporting faults, defects or operational issues to the Linen Room Supervisor and record faults as per local site policy
Ensure that all areas are left safe and secure when area is being vacated at completion of duties
Attendance at training sessions for all linen activities as required
Carry out reasonable requests by Linen Room Supervisor
Attendance at staff meetings as required
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB
Required to undertake on the job training & induction e.g. infection control impact to service; completion of audits and inspections; RFID technology (this will generally take a 4-6 weeks to achieve full competency across a range of duties)
Working knowledge of Health & Safety including participation in risk assessing individual tasks
Understanding of topping up levels and systems
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Basic understanding of Information Technology
Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment
Undertake mandatory HCSW standards
Undertake NHS Lanarkshire compulsory training
