This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. An opportunity has arisen to take a lead role in supporting the educational needs of the AHP workforce within the workplace across NHS Lothian.  We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic individual with a flexible and proactive approach to practice education.

The purpose of this role is to support and facilitate the development of the workplace as a sustainable quality learning environment for all Allied Health Professional staffworking across all care settings within the Health Board area. In addition the post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of national practice education programmes of work.

This post will specifically focus on supporting and facilitating the development of AHP Healthcare Support Workers (HCSW) and Newly Qualified Practitioners

The purpose and output of this role would be to:

  • review current policy and guidance on learning and development opportunities for AHP HCSWs and AHP Newly Qualified Practitioners (NQPs) within NHS Lothian
  • review the current provision of development opportunities available to  AHP HCSWs  and NQPs within NHS Lothian including formal education routes and access to local and national training programmes across the 4 pillars of practice
  • understand the future workforce requirements for AHP HCSW roles in NHS Lothian and consider how to support current and future recruits to achieve these
  • liaise with relevant stakeholders and make recommendations about future direction of learning and development for HCSW in NHS Lothian

We want to hear from you if:

  • You are passionate about the role of practice education supporting career development and CPD for allied health professionals and support staff.
  • You can demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and inter personal  skills
  • You have education relevant experience  
  • You are a qualified AHP and registered with the HCPC
  • You have Masters qualification or can demonstrate the equivalent e.g a critical understanding of the theories and principles in education, application of critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis, autonomy and initiative.
