We are advertising 2 x Consultant Clinical Psychologist posts (Band 8C), working within NHS Great Glasgow & Clyde Specialist Learning Disabilities Service.
1 x 0.5 WTE within the Renfrewshire Learning Disability Service (RLDS) and 1 x 0.5 WTE within the South Glasgow Learning Disabilities Service.
Applications are welcome from applicants wishing to combine the posts to create a 1.0 WTE position as well as those wishing to work part time hours.
RLDS and the South Glasgow LDS are hosted by bordering HSCPs. These posts are a great opportunity to be part of a well-established psychology service and wider multi-agency services, and the post holder(s) will play a key role in the wider provision and development of the Community Learning Disability Teams undertaking board-wide service and quality improvement initiatives.
We are looking for experienced clinical psychologist(s) with skills in all of the following; teaching, supervision, complex interventions and service development. You will have excellent interpersonal skills. You will provide highly specialised psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation and overseeing the governance of clients’ psychological care.
In your role you will provide support, supervision and be responsible for the governance of psychological interventions. You will also be expected to provide clinical supervision to assistant psychologists, trainee psychologists, psychologists and multi-professional staff in the learning disabilities service. You will be working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the board, and service’s policies and procedures.
You will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team. The post-holder(s) will be expected to have experience of working with a wide variety of client groups and exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment. The post-holder(s) will have regular access to clinical and peer supervision from other Psychologists in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
The post-holder(s) will be able to take advantage of close links with the University of Glasgow DClinPsy training programme, and will undertake training (if not already completed) to be eligible to supervise clinical psychology trainees as an integral part of the post(s). Teaching opportunities are also available. If part-time, in order to meet service needs, your work pattern will include at least three sessions (three half days) during Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday – other sessions are open to discussion.
The post(s) requires significant clinical psychology practice experience in NHS or equivalent (ideally with significant experience within specialist learning disability services), supervised by a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist. Applicants should be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and will be required to maintain your registration through regular supervision and CPD, as a condition of continued employment.
