Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology to join our existing team.  The post will be based in Clyde Sector.  This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team of Diabetes & Endocrinology Consultants and Nurse Specialists and influence the future design and direction of the Service.  It is our aim to accommodate the successful candidate’s chosen specialism, training needs and maintenance of skills.

The successful candidate will integrate into a team to comprise 7.0 WTE Consultants across Clyde (4 based on the RAH site). This post has been established to facilitate the redevelopment of Diabetes & Endocrinology Services in Clyde in line with the vision of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde’s Clinical Services Review. The successful candidate will be encouraged to critically evaluate current service provision to promote ideas of partnership working and novel ways of dealing with current workload.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the RAH/VOL Consultant Medical Receiving Rota.  ​​​​​​​

MRCP or equivalent qualification is essential and you must have full registration with the GMC and a licence to practice. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher Specialist Training leading to a CCT in Diabetes and Endocrinology (or be within six months of confirmed entry at the date of interview).  Non UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

​​​​​​​This job plan is negotiable and will be agreed between the successful applicant and the Clinical Director.  NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde initially allocates all full time consultants 10 PAs made up of 9 PAs in Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and one core Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) for CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings.  The precise allocation of SPA time and associate objectives will be agreed with the successful applicant and will be reviewed by job planning process.
