Glasgow or Edinburgh although remote working will apply for the foreseeable future.

Due to the retirement of the current post holder we are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic cancer pharmacist to undertake this exciting national role. You will have highly developed clinical leadership skills and experience as well as a track record of delivering local, regional and national work programmes on a uni and multi-professional basis.

Key to the success of this post will be collaboration with all territorial and national boards, cancer networks, Scottish Government and other key strategic and clinical stakeholders within Scotland and the UK. As a cancer pharmacist expert you will represent the profession and Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) nationally to support the delivery of Scotland’s cancer policy and strategy.  You will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and management of national programmes including:

National Cancer Medicines Advisory Programme - taking forward rapid national decision making on off-label and off-patent cancer medicines to improve consistency, effectiveness and efficiency of the process for the new use of cancer medicines.

Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Programme - to support NHS boards to demonstrate compliance with CEL 30 (2012) and CEL 21 (2009), through a Governance Framework, audit tools and training.

Further quality improvements such as consent for SACT, improved process for service planning for cancer medicines and the use of intelligence and quality management to improve safety for people living with cancer and receiving SACT.

Within HIS we share the values of the NHS 2020 Vision, and our values and behaviours empower us to deliver better quality health and social care for everyone in Scotland. We recognise that how we do things is equally as important as what we do. We promote a healthy organisational culture in which we uphold the NHS Scotland shared values, and seek to encourage high levels of staff engagement.
