The Edinburgh Cancer Centre (ECC) pharmacy team, a finalist in the 2019 NHS Scotland Hospital pharmacy team of the year award, has a position available for an enthusiastic, motivated pharmacist with an interest in specialising in cancer care. The ECC provides specialist cancer services for the South East of Scotland Cancer Network, treating patients with solid tumours and haematological malignancies in day-case, OPD and in-patient settings. It is a specialist tertiary referral centre for a number of rarer cancers and has a teenage and young adult unit. The ECC has a broad research portfolio and participates in a wide range of cancer clinical trials.

You will join a pharmacy team committed to the development of services to cancer patients and will be given the opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge and skills within a challenging but supportive environment.

Applicants should have a good working knowledge of hospital pharmacy services and possess excellent clinical and communication skills. The successful candidates join rotations which give the opportunity to gain experience across pharmacy services provided within the ECC including; clinical services provided to our day-case chemotherapy unit, in-patient haematology and oncology wards, and out-patient clinics as well as operational aspects of aseptic, dispensing and homecare services, clinical trials services and the electronic chemotherapy prescribing system (chemocare). In addition, pharmacist led NMP clinics are expanding within the ECC.

Successful completion of foundation vocational training or a postgraduate pharmacy qualification is essential, (candidates who are close to completion of these qualifications will also be considered).

You will participate in the WGH weekend and out of hours’ service and ECC public holiday rosters.
