Principal Clinical Psychologist

AfC Band 8B plus a High Secure Environmental Allowance of £1,390.20 per annum and a High Secure Clinical Responsibility Allowance of £3,336.48 per annum.

Post Details – This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist in a forensic high secure hospital psychology department. The post holder will lead (with a nurse therapist colleague) on the coordination of other staff to deliver group therapies to address clinical and criminogenic needs.  The post holder will also be involved in conducting risk assessment, Multi-Disciplinary Team formulations, one to one and group therapies. There are opportunities to develop leadership skills and in linking with national strategic developments regarding offender treatment programme development. 


Experience – We are looking for a qualified clinical psychologist with experience in the forensic field who is looking to develop leadership and group therapies delivery and service coordination skills. The candidate should have an interest in structured risk assessment and formulation, mental disorder, personality disorder, neurodevelopmental difficulties, and complex trauma. We are looking for a candidate with skills in evidence-based therapies to reduce clinical distress and tackle criminogenic (including sexual offending) needs of patients in a high secure hospital setting. There are excellent CPD opportunities as well as a culture that promote the research process from developing questions, to publication.
