Post: SPECIALTY DOCTOR IN CHILD and ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY

Base: renfrewshire camhs, aranthrue centre, 103 paisley road, renfrew, pa4 8lh

Full time or Part Time:  5 PA’s per week.


The post holder will be a member of the multidisciplinary team for Renfrewshire CAMHS who see 0-18 year old children, young people and their families/carers. Experience in seeing children or young people with psychiatric disorders is essential and experience in Paediatrics, General Practice or a Medical Specialty would be advantageous.  This post is permanent. 

The Speciality Doctor will work under the direction of the Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, seeing patients suited to their level of training. This would include seeing patients who may need to start medication for psychiatric disorders, or monitoring those already on medication, including those with neurodevelopmental disorders. You would be involved in the team duty system responding to those patients needing emergency assessment. You may also be asked to do physical health monitoring and risk assessments of children and adolescence with eating disorders or mental state assessments of children and young people open to other members of the team.

The Renfrewshire CAMHS service is based at the Aranthrue Centre in Renfrew. There are good transport links to the vibrant multicultural city of Glasgow, providing a range of cultural, sporting and outdoor activities. There is easy access to the West coast and the beautiful Scottish Highlands and Islands and a major international Airport giving direct access to a variety of destinations.


All applicants must possess Full GMC Registration, a licence to practice and have at least 4 Years full time Post Graduate Training, two of which must have been in relevant specialties or you will demonstrate and evidence equivalent experience and competencies. ​​​​​​​
