Critical Care Staff Nurses
Grade: Agenda for Change Band 5 - £ 26,104 - £32,915
Hours: 37.5 hours (pro rata part-time)

Exciting opportunities have arisen as a result of recent expansion of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Critical Care bed capacity. Applications are now invited from high calibre and enthusiastic staff nurses to join our critical care nursing teams located at 3 of our Acute hospitals sites. We are keen to hear from applicants who are interested in developing their nursing skills and have a desire to care for critically ill patients or equally from those with critical care experience seeking a new challenge somewhere new.

The Roles Our critical care teams care for both emergency and elective adult and paediatric patients who require higher levels of care. We service both our local community and a number of regional and national specialist services .Working in partnership with our multidisciplinary critical care teams you will provide highly specialist care pathways and closer nursing observation care for critically ill patients across our Intensive Care /High Dependency Units. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Critical Care units consist of adult general ICU and mixed medical and surgical HDU.
Successfully appointed candidates will work in a busy and challenging nursing and multidisciplinary team to ensure a high standard of care to critically ill patients with one or more organ failure requiring organ support, specialist care pathways and closer nursing observation.
In this fast changing environment successfully you will have an opportunity to develop a range of transferable skills with access to critical care education and development programmes to support your career pathway and development. As part of a team delivering care from admission to discharge from critical care and as patients’ needs differ , you will be required to tailor your approach to a broad range of individuals and circumstances to meet the patient’s needs.
The Person Specification We are looking for caring, compassionate and motivated registered nurses to join our critical care teams. Whilst recent critical care experience is desirable we are also seeking candidates with acute care experience along with good communication and interpersonal skills and most importantly the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. As a service we will support you continuously to develop. With support from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s clinical practice educators you will benefit from day one with access to the right development and support through a strong education ethos.
Candidates must have current registration with the NMC on part one or two of the register and be educated to degree level or equivalent and able to demonstrate good clinical skills and have experience of prioritising and working in a dynamic and fast paced clinical working environment.
