The Directorate of Medical Education is seeking an experienced manager to join the directorate team.

The Director of Medical Education has responsibility for both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, and as the largest territorial Board in Scotland, NHSGGC is one of the UK’s major Local Education Providers (LEPs).The directorate acts as a conduit between service providers and relevant external agencies, e.g. University of Glasgow Medical School, NHS Education for Scotland and the General Medical Council.

The post holder will manage our North Sector Medical Education and quality management teams.  This role will have a focus on the provision of support to improve the quality of medical education and training across NHSGGC, in line with GMC standards.  The postholder will be required to bring and contribute expertise in this area in order to influence change, and will provide Board wide project management support.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and writing skills and the ability to operate within a demanding and diverse environment.  They will be required to develop effective working relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to implement successful medical education and improvement processes.

They will be educated to degree level or equivalent, hold a qualification in Quality Improvement or have significant experience of working in a quality improvement related field; and have experience of using quality improvement methodologies. The successful candidate is required to have an understanding of the complex multi-disciplinary Medical Education agenda.
