We are looking to appoint enthusiastic team players to our Orthopaedic department.  The successful candidates will join the trauma rota and will be expected to function within our Major Trauma Service. We will consider subspecialist interest in Arthroplasty/Revision and Foot & Ankle.  Our region services the population of Dundee, Angus, Perthshire and North Fife.   We are designated as one of the four Major Trauma Units in Scotland with a dedicated ward, team and rehab facility to provide the best care to our multiple injured patients.  There are 20 consultants in Tayside, 12 of whom provide the out of hours cover.  Our service is provided at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, Perth Royal Infirmary and Stracathro Hospital.  Most of the unscheduled care is provided at Ninewells Hospital, Elective activity is performed primarily at Perth and Stracathro Hospitals.  Advanced plans are drawn up to build a new state-of- the-art National Elective Treatment Centre at Perth Royal Infirmary, which provides the exciting opportunity to develop our elective services.

Tayside also offers a great professional challenge to those interested in academia.  The department enjoys close links with the University Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics (UDOTS), which hosts a well renowned and established MChOrth course, and the Medical School with whom we organise the undergraduate MSK teaching through out the medical curriculum.  We are home to the East of Scotland Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery training programme with 16 Specialty Trainee. We take great pride in the quality of our postgraduate training.

Tayside has an abundance of choice with regards housing and schooling, with both excellent public and private education options.  It is a region of outstanding natural beauty, from the North Sea coast in the east to the highs of the Cairngorm Mountains to the west.  Our region is sublimely well suited to an active and outdoor lifestyle.  Working in Tayside can offer a great work-life balance.
