An opportunity has arisen for 2 friendly, motivated, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to take on the role of Mental Health Act Administrator/Higher Clerical Officer within a busy Mental Health Medical Records Department based at Whytemans Brae Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

The Mental Health Act Administrator will provide extensive support for the administration of the Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 ensuring that the provisions and timetables set out in the Act are met. 

In addition, you will provide a robust administrative support from the point of referral to the service, including patient registration, retrieval and preparation of casenotes for out-patient and inpatient contacts and the administration of daily admissions, transfers and discharges ensuring mandatory data quality assurance.   The post holder will support the department to develop digitalisation of Health Records and support the wider administration service in delivery of virtual reception service via NHS Near me.

This position brings a wide vary of daily tasks and duties and candidates must be able to prioritise, multi task and exercise a high standard of concentration.

Candidates should be educated to equivalent of Standard Grade or have relevant experience. Good communication, excellent organisation, numerical and listening skills are essential.  You will also have the ability to work as a member of a team or on your own initiative with minimal supervision. You should possess good keyboard skills and a knowledge of Patient Administration Systems would be an advantage.

Previous clerical / administration experience, experience within a hospital records department and knowledge of computerised patient administration system is desirable. 

Candidates must be able to lift and handle quantities of medical record folders and to bend and stretch to retrieve and file folders.

Flexibility to provide cover holiday/illness is required and the ability to travel to other hospital sites within Fife, as directed by The Health Records Manager.
