Job Advert
We have an exciting career opportunity available for an appropriately experienced pharmacist ready to advance their career and develop leadership and clinical skills within the pharmacy team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert.
This is a permanent 37.5 hours per week band 7 clinical post. It is a non-rotational post that will provide pharmaceutical care to patients within care of the elderly speciality and also the acute medicines unit, where you will deal with a variety of patients from numerous medical specialities. We are looking for a dynamic person who will enjoy working across these patient groups and be excited to be part of a new integrated way of working between these two areas.
This is a redesigned post building on the natural connections between the Care of the Elderly and admissions unit teams. With a majority of patients in the admissions unit now being elderly, and initiatives like frailty reviews and falls clinics on the horizon, the successful post holder will have the opportunity to develop advanced practice within the Care of the Elderly specialty, whilst still seeing the breadth of medical presentations a busy admissions unit can expect. The successful candidate will help develop new integrated services and provide high quality pharmaceutical care.
This position offers the opportunity to develop clinical expertise and leadership skills, and contribute to managing change and improving services, therefore preparing you for advanced practice. The postholder will also be expected to contribute to on call, weekend and public holiday rotas. Interviews will take place on Wednesday 16th February 2022.
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists to make a difference and contribute to transforming hospital services and improving patient outcomes. You will need to be flexible, organised, work well within a team and have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude. You need to enjoy working in a busy challenging environment. You will be a well-rounded practitioner, having completed Foundation Training. Being qualified as an independent prescriber would be desirable although training opportunities are available for post-graduate study.
The pharmacy service within NHS Forth Valley is highly regarded across the organisation with staff working closely within multi-disciplinary teams. The clinical pharmacist team is strongly supported by one of the largest and most established clinical pharmacy technician teams in Scotland, who are poised to take their service to the next level. The department is forward thinking and constantly seeking improvement. We have many opportunities for personal development and you will be supported to undertake clinical leadership training. The Pharmacy Department makes use of modern technologies including robotics. We have implemented Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HEPMA) throughout the health board, keeping us at the forefront of healthcare provision.
We are a friendly, dedicated and supportive team. The hospital, which is situated surrounded by woods and lochs, provides many activities to support healthy lives for staff such as yoga and cycling clubs. Larbert is within 40 minutes of Edinburgh and Glasgow and has excellent road and rail links. Flexible or part-time working patterns will be considered.
