The role of the pharmacy technician is evolving and expanding within the ward based multidisciplinary teams and you will have the responsibility of providing person centred care at ward level. You will be trained and assessed in the activities of confirming medication histories, technical medicines reconciliation and discharge planning services; developing your skills within robust training and competency frameworks. You will also contribute towards identifying and resolving medication related issues, working in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

You must be self-motivated with a positive and friendly attitude and be able to maintain, develop and use your own professional judgement and skills for the benefit of patients. You must be able to use your own initiative to provide person centred care and be flexible in your approach to changing service needs alongside being willing to contribute towards training and co-ordinating the workload of pharmacy technicians working in the team.

Previous ward experience is not essential providing you have evidence of good attention to detail, a positive attitude and good problem solving skills, demonstrating a high level of professional practice.

You must be a registrant of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and hold a recognised accuracy checking qualification or be willing to work towards one.
