Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated candidates for the full time post of Virology Technical Manager.

The successful applicant will assist in the delivery, management and ongoing development of an effective clinical Virology service; assisting the Technical Services Manager and Operational Manager with the establishment and implementation of all NHS policies, directives and procedures that are required to meet the standards for United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accreditation and for development of the service.

The post holder is responsible for the Technical management allocated by the Operational Manager in the department, which covers a local, regional and national service; whose purpose is to provide a diagnostic service for patients employing many highly complex and highly specialised methods. Also the post holder will provide expert scientific and technical advice to other health care professionals throughout Scotland.

Applicants must be registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist and require an Honours degree in Biomedical Sciences. Also a Healthcare Science Masters Degree, or equivalent is required and extensive post registration (HCPC registrant) in a clinical virology laboratory.

The post is based at the New Lister Building in Glasgow Royal Infirmary which is a state of the art facility which contains extensive Virology and Microbiology analysers.

The laboratory holds UKAS accreditation for ISO 15189.

The shift pattern is; 37.5 hours over 7 days
