DEPUTY MEDICAL DIRECTOR – PRIMARY CARE DIRECTORATE

Applications are invited from qualified and appropriately experienced general practitioners with a current licence to practice, for this key position in NHS Lothian.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Primary Care Directorate Senior Management Team and will work with HSCP Clinical Directors to promote strategic coordination in primary care. They will contribute to the strategic development of primary care services in Lothian, including working with colleagues in secondary care for primary-secondary care interface related areas. The post-holder will have responsibility for medical leadership for primary care services (GMP, GDP, Optometry) including contract and governance issues, and will provide professional support to doctors within primary care.
The successful candidate will have significant experience of primary care clinical leadership and management.
The post-holder will be required to provide at least two clinical sessions per week within primary care in NHS Lothian in addition to this role.
The post will be paid either:
On the salaried GP scale £63,187 - £94,311 plus a management allowance of £30,834 per annum.
Or, if the successful applicant is a partner in a general practice and will remain one, they can choose that the pay will match the pro rata sessional earnings from the practice plus a management allowance of £30,834 per annum.
Candidates with 8 years of experience as a general practitioner can expect to join at the top of the salaried scale.
