Edinburgh AMH Psychological Therapies Service

We are delighted to invite applications for this opportunity to work within the Edinburgh Psychological Therapies Service.  The team is expanding and we are looking for enthusiastic and committed Psychologists to support the further development of Psychological services.

You will have a varied individual clinical caseload across the spectrum of psychological and mental health difficulties and be supported via individual and group supervision by the Senior Psychologists in each service. You will be also be providing supervision to a number of staff within the service. Eligibility to supervise trainees/newly qualified practitioners is desirable. As the service expands, there is an ongoing need to support work around reducing wait times, and you will have a key role in this. However in this context there is also an increased opportunity for training and development with a whole service cpd plan, as well as involvement in service developments driven by strategic change. These include the growth of the group programme and development of treatment pathways for a Matrix 4 population.

This role forms part of an expanding Psychological Therapies team in Edinburgh, and you will have good support links with senior psychologists within the service.  There are also a wide range of mental health services within the Edinburgh HSCP with which the Psychological Therapies Service have strong links.

The department is supported by Royal Edinburgh Associated Services (REAS), and there are reporting lines to the Services Director of Royal Edinburgh Associated Services (REAS), however all posts are managed within Psychological Therapies.  This is led by the Director of Psychology with a team of senior staff who are committed to supporting and developing staff with CPD and time for research, quality improvement and other programmes that enhance the quality of care provided.

The main base for these posts is the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Morningside, Edinburgh. However Psychological Therapies Teams are currently supporting hybrid working for both clinical and administrative work so flexibility of working location can be discussed at interview.

Please review the job description and person specification for further details and note that you will be required to hold a relevant postgraduate qualification on appointment (Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical or Counselling Psychology) as a minimum requirement and are eligible for HCPC registration.

We will be interviewing for all posts in February 2022.

If you would like to know more about the posts, please do not hesitate to contact:

Dr Alyson Falconer, Head of Adult Mental Health or Dr Norma Martin, Consultant Psychologist, Lead for Edinburgh PTS: 0131 537 6904.
