An exciting opportunity has arisen for 5.4 wte Health Care Assistants/Clinical Support Workers, Band 3 –This is a dual HCA/CSW role.
Working within our Emergency Department you will be committed to providing a high standard of nursing care to a diverse patient population whilst ensuring a quality service.
The HCA/CSW role within the Emergency Department (ED) is wide and varied and can change throughout a shift. In collaboration with the shift coordinator and Senior Charge Nurse, the post holder will be able to adjust to the requirements of a busy ED in very different care areas; minor injuries area, triage, observation area and sometimes resus area.
You must be able to identify acutely unwell adults and report to the relevant responsible nurse. You must be able to prioritise your workload and work autonomously to achieve the shift requirements
The post holder will have an accurate knowledge of the expectations of HEI and OPAH within the area and meet the expectations of the support systems in place to ensure safe practice within the department
Essential criteria for a Band 3 within ED, in addition to the skills of a Band 2 HCA, are:
- Competent with cannulation and venepuncture
- Competent with performing ECG
- Competent with performing blood glucose monitoring
- Competent with performing and recording observations
- Understand the relevance of all the above skills to patient care
Applicants should have previous experience of caring for acutely unwell patients within a hospital setting and have a genuine interest in this specialty, together with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This post is Fixed Term / Secondment until 31.03.2023
