You will provide an independent and confidential counselling service to employees of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to deliver this service in accordance with both Occupational Health Service and professional body requirements. You will work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary Occupational Health Team providing care, support and advice to approximately 38,000 staff working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. 

         The Occupational Health Counsellor will be able to work as an autonomous Practitioner and practice within the legal and ethical framework as  etablished by the appropriate professional registration body and adhere to both Divisional and Service guidelines, policies and protocols.

You will assess the appropriateness of counselling for service users determining clients’ needs and communicating complex information on the nature of counselling and the conditions under which it is delivered. You will maintain the safety of clients during counselling, providing an appropriate physical environment and responsibility for physical and psychological well-being and establish a therapeutic alliance or referral pathways, demonstrating empathy and reassurance where necessary.  It is essential that you have a post graduate diploma in Counselling preferably by an accredited body.  You should be an Accredited Practitioner recognised by a national professional body i.e COSCA, BACP, or BABCP and that you have post qualification experience with at least 250 post qualification counselling hours. The shift pattern for this post is between Monday - Friday core service hours.
