This is an opportunity for a HCPC registered Healthcare Scientist to work as the Quality Manager in Diagnostics Laboratories at the heart of a large teaching hospital which provides a full range of clinical and diagnostic services to NHS Tayside, North East Fife & S Grampian.

The Diagnostics Laboratories are based in Ninewells Hospital, a large Teaching hospital and Medical School in Dundee, and a cross discipline lab at Perth Royal Infirmary.

The department is UKAS accredited and holds IBMS Training approval and NES training approval.

We are looking for a member of staff that can demonstrate team spirit, initiative and flexibility.

You will work in newly refurbished state of the art laboratories, with a keen quality team that have had continuous UKAS/CPA accreditation since 1992, we plan to progress to ISO 22870 accreditation in 2021/2

You will have a considerable degree of autonomy and are responsible for delivering professional, scientific and quality leadership. The postholder will be expected to work closely with Clinical and Governance Leads, Service Managers and the discipline Quality Officers.

You must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, have sufficient laboratory experience and experience with Quality Management Systems

The candidate will hold an MSc or equivalent M-Level Qualification (SCQF 11) or be working towards this (annex 21). Evidence of involvement in Quality / POCT and development is essential – particularly supporting staff.

We can offer you the scope to advance and develop your skills within a supportive and progressive environment. You should be a good communicator with proven skills to deliver training and support to a wide range of laboratory staff including pre registration BMS and university placement students and post-graduate staff.

You will also be expected to support the professional scientific staff and service managers in delivering the analytical services.

Previous experience and employment in a hospital environment is essential.
