Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians Band 4 Annex 21

Salary per annum pro rata: Year 1 £18,187 (Living Wage uplift £19,305) and Year 2 £19,486


Are you interested in a career as a Pharmacy Technician?  Would you like to study to achieve a professional qualification while working in our hospitals and locality services as part of the Pharmacy Team?  This is an opportunity to work and learn as part of a Technical Apprenticeship.

The SQA Diploma in Pharmacy Services is completed over 2 years and includes:

  • Professional Development Award in Pharmacy Services at SCQF level 7 and
  • SVQ in Pharmacy Services at SCQF level 8

Your role will be varied, learning and working with our pharmacy teams in primary and secondary care including hospitals, GP practices, care homes, patients’ own homes to provide a high quality and professional, patient-focused service.  Placements will be provided to ensure you can cover all aspects of the training.  One day per week protected study time and support in the workplace will be provided.  Trainees are expected to contribute at least an additional 4 hours per week to studying in their own time.  On successful completion you will be eligible to apply for pharmacy technician registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council and apply for Pharmacy Technician posts.  The current NHS starting salary for a registered pharmacy technician is £23,709 with excellent career development opportunities.
