A permanent post has arisen within the Department of Psychological Services & Research based in Dumfries for a Clinical Psychologist to work within the newly developed neurodevelopmental service for children and young people.  This offers a service to clients, carers, referral agencies, and others  in relation to the diagnosis and post-diagnostic support for neurodevelopmental conditions in Dumfries & Galloway.  The postholder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team offering assessment, formulation and interventions.  The service has a clinical lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and input from Child Psychiatry and Paediatrics.

The post involves supervision of psychological therapy delivered by non-psychology staff in matters relating to the neurodevelopmental service as directed by the Head of Child and Adolescent Specialty. 

The postholder will work closely with colleagues in Neurodevelopmental services, Intellectual Disabilities, Paediatrics, CAMHS and Care Experienced Teams.  

Dumfries & Galloway is situated in the South West of Scotland and the department has a complement of around 80 staff, with Clinical Psychologists in all major specialities and it is a friendly, supportive and lively place to work. We have strong links with Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling Universities and take trainees from both Clinical Psychology and Masters courses. We also provide placements and supervision for CBT Therapists. The post has dedicated CPD and supervision time.
