This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.  ​​​​​​​

In partnership with Anaesthetics, Emergency Department and Colorectal Surgery the post holder will be responsible for implementing the revised Emergency Laparotomy pathway within the colorectal Unit at the Western General Hospital. This will include ensuring the minimum data set established by the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA) group is acquired and recorded on the ISD national database.

The post holder will be responsible for establishing both clinical and governance systems and process’s which will be used to monitor patient outcomes and EMLAP protocol compliance with NELA.​​​​​​​

The post holder will establish and deliver education programmes and provide support to the Emergency Department clinical teams, the wider Acute Surgical Service and other relevant areas.
