We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to provide leadership and management for pharmacy professionals and pharmacy care support staff to ensure the skills of the whole pharmacotherapy services team are used to their full potential to provide the highest level of patient care.

You will have responsibility for the delivery of strategic and operational prescribing priorities including serial prescribing and dispensing.  The role will support and facilitate a model of pharmacotherapy practice where the pharmacy team work in partnership with other to obtain the best possible outcomes from medicines.  The development of a pharmacotherapy services team as an integral part of the pan Ayrshire roles will fully realise shared and inclusive patient care and reduce adverse events, waste and variation in prescribing.

As Principal Pharmacist Pharmacotherapy, you will work with the Primary Care Programme Lead Officers, Programme Managers and the wider pharmacy leadership team to lead and manage the development and delivery of pharmacotherapy services.

The relationship between sustainability of services and continued personal development is fundamental to obtaining the most out of medicines. As Principal Pharmacist you will therefore work with key local and national stakeholders, including National Education Scotland (NES) to realise the vision of an educational programme of training and development.  The education programme will shape NHS A& A by its commitment to the continued support and development of the individuals delivering a highly effective Pharmacotherapy service.

The posts are based Eglinton House and Ayrshire Central Hospital in NHS Ayrshire and Arran. Occasionally however, you may be required to work in other areas within NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

In future, in accordance with AfC Terms and conditions, you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.

A driving licence is essential for this post.
