Full Time – 37.5 hours per week

Band 8A - Salary Range £50,965 - £55,016 per annum

Plus Distant Island Allowance of £1,971 per annum and Relocation Assistance of up to £8000 available


As the lead specialist in NHS Shetland you will manage and take full responsibility for the Medical Physics Department including pay and non-pay, service contracts and annual equipment procurement budget.  The post-holder will be the lead in medical equipment procurement involving research and development of medical equipment services throughout NHS Shetland.  You will have strategic and operational leadership and the ability to build and work within successful teams.  The post holder will also organise, schedule and carry out repairs, servicing and planned maintenance on a wide variety of highly complex medical equipment and systems.


As Chief Medical Physics Officer you will have extensive experience in working within the field of medical electronics and hold a degree or equivalent in electronics/engineering.  Experience in working at a senior level in equipment management, preferably in a management or supervisory role within the NHS with in-depth knowledge of medical equipment management including procurement, maintenance scheduling and quality standards.
