An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Dietetic Support Worker based in the Nutrition and Dietetics Department at St John’s Hospital Livingston but travelling to other sites across Lothian. The post holder will support both the Community Dietetic Team in West Lothian and the Lothian adult diabetes team. The Community team covers a range of specialties and works in all community locations.  The adult diabetes team provides service to outpatients and group education for patients with diabetes across a number of sites in Lothian. The dietitians within these teams will delegate work and provide supervision to the post holder. 

The post holder will review both outpatients and patients within their own homes/care homes. The post holder will be required to complete office based tasks such as maintaining stock levels of resources for the teams eg. diet sheets, making appointments, answering phones and updating electronic patient records e.g. TRAK, SCI-Diabetes and be responsible for downloading information stored on technical devices eg blood glucose meters and insulin pumps. The post holder will participate in patient group education which includes preparing activities/resources for the dietitians to undertake during group education. There will be the opportunity to be involved in  teaching on group education sessions.
