An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Nutrition & Clinical Dietetic Department as a Dietitian for the Adult Weight Management service. This temporary post has been funded as part of the implementation for the Early Intervention & Prevention of Type II Diabetes Framework.

Programmes within the Adult Weight Management include:
 
• Let’s Prevent Diabetes,
• Counterweight Plus
• Tier 2 - Get Moving with Counterweight
• Tier 3 – Specialist Weight Management 
• Tier 4 – Bariatric Surgery.

You will provide input as part of this team of seven dietitians and support staff along with good links to the rest of the multi-disciplinary team.

Job Purpose:

• To support the Adult Weight Management team within the Nutrition & Dietetic department.
• To provide and maintain a seamless service for patients and staff.
• To provide comprehensive and effective service to Adult Weight Management patients as referred by members of healthcare teams.
• To implement the Adult Weight Management Standards and follow the clinical pathways.
• Participate in student training programme within the Nutrition & Dietetic Department. 

Working Areas/Caseload: 

• You will have their own clinical caseload allocated to assess, plan and deliver Nutrition and Dietetic care to a specific clinical area. 
• To provide comprehensive consultation, liaison and information about the nutritional care requirements of patients in Adult Weight Management to a range of staff and other agencies. 
• Attendance at department trainings.

You will be registered with HCPC or equivalent and have the skills, competencies and experience appropriate for the post.

An awareness of the importance of excellent communication, organisational and time management skills and the ability to work independently are required.

The Nutrition & Clinical Dietetic Department is a Fife wide service providing Dietetic care to one Acute hospital, Primary Care hospitals and the community.  The department is currently arranged into clinical groups for; Acute, Adult Weight Management & Diabetes, Mental Health (including Learning Disabilities), Nutritional Support, Older People and Infant Nutrition & Paediatrics.  There are also specialists Dietitians working in the Health Promotion/Dietetics Food & Health Team and working with the Prescribing teams.

The Dietetic department takes both undergraduate and graduate Dietetic students for B & C programmes each year; involving staff in the delivery and organisation of the programmes.  The department runs regular department training sessions and supports staff in their continuing professional development.  The department has good clerical support, IT, internet and library facilities.
