Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner/Trainee

​​​​​​​Salary: Band 7 (Annex 21 will be considered for trainees)

An opportunity has arisen within the Advanced Paediatric team within the Borders General Hospital

for a flexible, enthusiastic individual to assist in the provision of paediatric health care.

To undertake the role of a Trainee/Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner (APNP), you should

have significant post registration to support your application.  The practitioner will have/develop

high levels of decision making and clinical judgment, be able to work independently and in

conjunction with other health professionals. You will assess, diagnose and initiate treatment,

investigations, advice and management of patients with a range of conditions using professional

decision-making processes to ensure safe, patient centered care. This will be facilitated in

partnership with patients and their families. You will provide specialist advice to healthcare

 professionals, other agencies, carer’s, clients and relatives. The APNP role encompasses that of

expert clinician, educator and auditor, and they must be able possess the ability to prioritise

 fluctuating workloads, remain focused, work across professional boundaries and be flexible

The post holder will Lead and develop the service to improve practice and work collaboratively

across healthcare boundaries, implementing and evaluating evidence based standards, guidelines

and policies.

To meet the needs of the service hours will include a range of shift patterns.
