Situated within the central belt of Scotland, NHS Lanarkshire is the third largest Health Board in Scotland and serves a population of around 700,000 people. Its Psychological Services comprises over 200 psychologists, CAAPS, Psychological Therapists, Counsellors, Nurse Therapists, CBT therapists, and Mental Health Practitioners.
Following the retirement of the longstanding postholder, NHS Lanarkshire is looking to recruit a Director of Psychological Services who can continue to lead and develop services within a supportive, collaborative, and cohesive culture. This is an exciting opportunity to build on progress made over the past ten years in expanding the psychology workforce, developing new services, and implementing an efficient, effective, and coordinated leadership structure. The Director of Psychological Services is supported by the Deputy Director, four band 8d heads of service, and service leads/consultants from across a wide range of specialties.
We are looking for a proven leader who has significant and demonstrable leadership and management experience at a very senior level within a Psychology service. Applicants must be able to evidence how they have delivered safe and effective clinical care, and done so via working within the context of a senior leadership team. Experience in clinical and professional governance, strategic planning, service commissioning, budgetary management, and quality improvement are essential for this role. The applicant should also have a significant national profile, with a proven track record of contributing to the profession at the highest levels.
All applicants must be trained to doctoral level in psychology, and be currently registered with the HCPC as a Counselling or Clinical Psychologist.
