“Scotland is probably having more success than any nation that I know in the world.”

Donald Berwick on Quality Improvement in NHS Scotland

Healthcare Improvement Scotland is an international leader in the field of quality improvement with a focus on designing and delivering national programmes which enable the redesign and continuous improvement of health and social care services. With an impressive range of improvement support programmes, we aspire to be at the leading edge of both thinking and practice in quality improvement. To find out more about our work please visit www.ihub.scot.

‘As an organisation, we are driven by a passion to see sustainable and affordable improvements in the health and wellbeing outcomes for the people in Scotland. We are not interested in solutions that look good on the surface, but won’t deliver sustainable improvements. We are in it for the long haul, which means that success for us is when we see real and meaningful improvements in health and wellbeing outcomes for people.’ Carole Wilkinson, Chair, Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about improvement in health and social care, to join the Improvement Hub (ihub) as a Senior Improvement Advisor in the Primary Care Improvement Portfolio (PCIP).

The Senior Improvement Advisor is a key operational role which reports directly to the Portfolio Lead, and supports health and social care providers to reform services and deliver high quality care.

We are looking for a motivated individual, who is educated to degree level and, either holds a masters in a relevant subject, or equivalent knowledge. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of applying a range of improvement methods within different contexts, and will possess a track record of working with a wide range of stakeholders in a health and social care setting. As a natural communicator, the successful candidate will relish the opportunity to network effectively, motivate and persuade people to achieve change.

So if you are passionate about improving the outcomes and experiences of people within primary care settings, thrive within emergent and complex environments, and want to work within a team that is leading improvements at a local, national and international level, we want to hear from you.

In return, you will have the opportunity to work within a supportive, dynamic and visionary environment with colleagues who share your passion for delivering sustained improvements in health and wellbeing outcomes through the systematic application of improvement methods.

We are looking for the right person for this role to complement our existing team. So if what's been written here inspires you and you meet the majority of the person specification, then do consider exploring further and maybe even arranging an informal discussion. For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Thomas.monaghan@nhs.scot.

As part of the recruitment process you will be asked to undertake a management exercise and also to deliver a short presentation on a subject related to the role. Further details of the exercise and presentation will be shared with those candidates shortlisted for interview.

Closing date: Monday 28 February 2022 at midnight

It is anticipated that interviews will be held virtually on MS Teams on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 March 2022
