Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, Full time (40 hours per week) post based in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
This post will build upon foundations of subspecialty interest in Interventional Radiology from core training, and will enable the post holder to progress to a post as a Consultant Interventional Radiologist. Edinburgh Royal Infirmary is a large teaching hospital with a busy A&E and Major Trauma Centre. It is on the same site as the Neuro centre (DCN) and Children’s hospital (RHCYP).
Edinburgh has a large Vascular and Hepatobiliary practice in particular, but all IR skills are catered for. There is a large Oncology and Lithotripsy centre at the Western General Hospital with associated interventional training opportunities.
Within the South-East Scotland scheme we have an active teaching program and encourage participation in research and audit. The training program is coordinated through the local training committee and trainee participation and feedback is an integral part of this.
This post has deanery approval for training and the successful applicant will receive training opportunities at the appropriate level based on previous experience.
There may be a possibility to extend this appointment to the end of the training year. The extension may be at any of the hospitals on the rotation.
