We are looking to recruit a SLT with advanced knowledge of the highly complex dysphagia and communication difficulties associated with an acute, critical care and major trauma caseload including; tracheostomy care, ventilator weaning, instrumental dysphagia assessment and complex communication assessment and management including AAC. Education and training staff and students, including SLT, other AHPs, nursing and medical is integral to the role. Ideally you will have extensive experience including previous experience in an acute setting.
NHS Tayside is host to one of the four Major Trauma (MT) Centres in Scotland, based in Ninewells Hospital. The post holder will work as part of the Major Trauma Team to deliver highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) to patients in the major trauma unit as well as across Ninewells Hospital. You will liaise with the other MT SLT to provide outreach across Tayside for major trauma patients once they leave the acute setting. This role also has shared responsibility for providing highly specialist SLT input to all the medical, surgical and neuroscience areas within Ninewells Hospital.
This role shares team lead responsibility for a small number of SLTs within the team that delivers services throughout Ninewells Hospital. You will also work closely with the other senior/team lead SLTs with regard to audit, service development, innovation and strategy. The Adult Acquired SLT Service is a Tayside wide service and has regular local and regional meetings. Professional development is supported and encouraged and we provide separate line management and clinical supervision to ensure strong clinical performance.
Ninewells Hospital is a busy teaching hospital in Dundee with over 900 beds, serving the population of Tayside and North East Fife. Dundee, known as the City of Discovery, has a fantastic riverside location featuring the new V&A museum. It has great transport links to the rest of Tayside as well as St Andrews, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. It is within a 20 mile radius of award winning beaches, hills and countryside
